"Damn, it feels good
to be a gangsta!"

(Life in Gaza Under Hamas)

Three days after the Islamic fundamentalist group, Hamas, gunned down three Palestinian children in a drive-by last week, violence flared up again in Gaza.

This time it involved prime minister Ismail Haniyeh, who was caught at the border trying to smuggle in several suitcases with about $35 million in cash.  As word got out, Fatah gunmen seized control of the border in an effort to get their hands on the money, (which would have wound up in the pockets of Hamas).

According to the AP:

Minister Ismail Haniyeh was eventually allowed to cross without the estimated $35 million in cash but on the Gaza side of the border, his convoy came under intense fire from Fatah gunmen and one of his bodyguards was killed. Hamas said the gunmen had been aiming to kill the prime minister.

After he crossed, there was a new burst of gunfire and Haniyeh's convoy was forced to speed away. A 24-year-old bodyguard for Haniyeh was shot in the head and killed. Officials said Haniyeh was unharmed but his son was shot and slightly injured in the exchange.

Arriving home around midnight, the prime minister was furious over the gunfire at his convoy. He blamed Israel for the delay at the border but added: "We know the party that shot directly at our cars, injuring some of the people with me ... and we also know how to deal with this."

This all follows a notorious incident a few weeks back in which women were solicited by a government radio station to surround a group of besieged terrorists and shield them with their bodies.  (Two were killed).

So, lets recap where Gaza is now that the Palestinians have their own government:

Well-armed rival gangs in a turf war, drive-by shootings, women's bodies being used in gratuitous fashion, suitcases full of big money, and a trash-talking prime minister living large while pointing the finger at the man...

Hey, toss in a few Philly blunts and a couple of "thick chicks" and we've got ourselves a good gangsta video!
