2006 Dhimwit of the Month Honors

dhim·mi (dm or zm) - A Qur'anic term that refers to a subjugated non-Muslim person living in a society dominated by Muslims.  Second-class status is confirmed by the legal system and dhimmis do not share the rights of their Muslim rulers.  (ex. of use: "Hey Jimmy, if you want to be a dhimmi, then you'd better learn how to shimmy.")
dhim·wit (dmwt ) - A non-Muslim member of a free society that abets the stated cause of Islamic domination with remarkable gullibility or guile.  A dhimwit is always quick to extend sympathy to the very enemy that would take away his or her own freedom (or life) if given the opportunity.

December 2006 Dhimwit: Neturei Karta

Ahmadinejad can't believe his good fortune.  Neither can we.

They don't necessarily deny the mass slaughter of millions.  They just embrace people who do.  And they don't necessarily support a second holocaust... or do they?

Sometimes too much of any religion can be a bad thing.  Neturei Karta is a pro-Palestinian, anti-Israel group of rabbis who have allied themselves with Israel's worst enemies because they believe that any human attempt to establish a Jewish State is against the teachings of the Torah.  (It's complicated, we're sure).

Presumably this is why they chose to lend credibility to a Holocaust denial conference in Tehran earlier this month.  There the leader of Iran managed to deny one Holocaust while threatening another, as he promised again to "wipe out" the nation of Israel.

As can be seen from the sublime expression on Ahmadinejad's face in the photo, these are just the sort of dhimwits that Islam needs on the inside to weaken the West.  Lets hope these rabbis, who are based largely in Jerusalem, survive the fallout from the nuclear bomb that Iran intends to detonate in Tel Aviv.

November 2006 Dhimwit:
Minnesota's Fifth District

Who's the Dhimwit for November?
Not this guy.  He's just the beneficiary.

When six imams recently staged a publicity stunt on a U.S. Airways plane by terrifying fellow passengers and crew into seeing that they were escorted off and into the custody of air marshals (to wild applause), one of the first phone calls made was to CAIR (the Council on American-Islamic Relations).  In fact, there is speculation that the imams may even have been talking to CAIR (or a CAIR lawyer) throughout the incident on a cell phone.

For their part, CAIR immediately contacted U.S. Representative-elect, Keith Ellison and issued marching orders.  And, even though he has yet to take the oath of office (on a Qur'an, no less), Ellison readily threw his weight around in the matter by doing his best to intimidate the airline and legitimize the antics of the disingenuous trouble-makers.

So who is Keith Ellison?

In his official biography, Ellison claims that he hasn't eaten pork or drank alcohol since converting to Islam at the age of 19, and has always found time to pray toward Mecca five times a day.

That's nice.

Since his religious epiphany he's also picked up at least 40 unpaid parking tickets, 17 moving violations, one failure of a breathalyzer test at a traffic stop, and two suspensions of his driver's license.  He's also somehow found the time to climb up off the prayer mat and into bed with at least one mistress, and there are credible allegations of more.

He has openly supported a string of convicted cop killers, known racial separatists and at least one domestic terrorist.  This is in addition to the virulently anti-Semitic comments that he made while working for the Nation of Islam (an organization that believes white people were created in a laboratory by an evil scientist).

Sounds like the perfect candidate for Congress.  The voters of Minnesota's Fifth District thought so and made him the country's first-ever Muslim elected to national office.  For this, we honor them with our Dhimwit of the Month award.  Well, not all of them - just the 136,061 who punched his name in at the polls.

The problem with Ellison isn't his moral hypocrisy (although we do wish that he would step out from behind the lies and come clean about his past) and it isn't even that he's a Muslim.  Muslim citizens in America are just as entitled to serve in public office as anyone else, provided that they act to uphold the Constitution.

No, the problem isn't that Keith Ellison is a Muslim.  It is that he is CAIR's Muslim.

For those few who don't know, the notorious CAIR was founded with terrorist seed money and it receives strong financial support from Wahhabis, the most violent and extreme of major Muslim sects.  CAIR has even had its own leaders and members accused and convicted of supporting terrorism.  It has gone to bat for people like Sami al-Araian and other well-known sponsors of Islamic terror.  It also refuses to acknowledge and denounce more than 99% of all deadly Islamic attacks.

Yet, this has not stopped Ellison from publicly associating himself with CAIR, even serving as keynote speaker at their annual banquet.  Nor has his dubious moral background and cursory support for gay rights and Israel's existence (issues that helped him win the Democratic primary at least) kept CAIR from embracing Ellison and facilitating his election with well-worn charges of bigotry against critics.

The religion obviously comes first for both of them.  And this is just what may have voters in the Fifth District rethinking their choice over the next two years as they watch Ellison openly promote the agenda of an Islamic supremacist organization in the halls of Congress.

But for now, we'll just have to call them what they are... Dhimwits.

October 2006 Dhimwit: Lynne Stewart

Lynne Stewart, pin-up girl for jailed Jihadis
(no wonder they're pissed)

The next time activist lawyer, Lynne Stewart, makes the news will be when she succumbs to cancer - provided that her purported medical condition wasn't just a ruse for prompting a judge to hand down a nauseatingly light 28-month prison sentence for assisting World Trade Center bombers.  Since sensitivity is of such high priority for us here at TROP, we'll take the occasion of her sentencing this month to bestow the well-deserved honor of top Dhimwit.  If we wait any longer... well, you can see from the above photograph that she's just wasting away.

Stewart is actually a dhimwit's dhimwit, not just sympathizing with the enemy or demoralizing the anti-terror cause, but actually breaking the law to give convicted terrorists the ability to wage their violent campaigns of Jihad from behind bars.

The venerable Sharon Chadha sums up Stewart's qualifications as well as anyone possibly can in this excellent article: Lynne Stewart, Jihadi Lawyer

September 2006 Dhimwits:
Rosie O'Donnell and Philip Gray

The honor this month is shared by a man and a woman.
(The man is pictured here on the left).

An Anglican chaplain on English soil comparing the 7/7 subway bombers to Jesus is something that we just couldn't ignore.  We admit that we made up our minds early on that Philip Gray would be our Dhimwit winner for September.  But before you could say "There is no god but Allah, so please get that gun out of my face," dhimwits started popping up all over the place - and not your garden variety either, but some really stellar candidates.

So we decided to bend the rules a bit and force Philip Gray to share the honor with one of them - American talk show host Rosie O'Donnell, who brings some sorely-lacking testosterone to the ticket.  Both made outrageous attempts to semantically reduce Christian icons to the level of Islamic terrorists in spite of the rather obvious fact that no one is losing their head to a chorus of "Jesus Akbar."

Now, it's one thing to say that "radical Christians" are just as bad as radical Muslims (which is what Rosie did on ABC's "The View" during her debut week) if you are a militant lesbian who was brought in to stir up an IQ-challenged, morning TV show.  It's quite another if you are actually a practicing member of the Christian clergy.

Canon Gray is one of those modern men of the cloth who appreciate the value of Christian vocabulary even in the service of a different god - in this case, multiculturalism.  In his strange little world, the overturning of tables and benches in a temple (recorded in Matthew 21) is morally equivalent to dismembering and melting flesh from the bodies of ordinary subway commuters in London.

Well, the perpetrators in both cases were angry, weren't they?

This is so laughable that it hardly merits a response.  We'll just say that here is a man who obviously has too much free time.

As for Rosie O’Donnell… she made her comments right after the show interviewed 9/11 widows on the day following the anniversary of the attacks.  Aside from being in poor taste, she offered no defense of her ridiculous remarks other than an odd train-of-thought sequence in which religion and the U.S. government were interchanged at reckless convenience.

But, if fundamentalists of any other religion are just as much of a threat to human life as the folks behind over 6,000 religiously-motivated and deadly terror attacks in the last five years, then they must be doing an excellent job of hiding the bodies, because there are very few to be found.

(And Rosie, anytime you and your "wife" feel like touring Saudi Arabia for a little comparative analysis, we suggest keeping a real tight grip on those “Christian” passports).

August 2006 Dhimwit: Chris Carter

Surf's Up, Dhude.

The effort that Muslim terrorists put into killing and trying to kill Westerners directly corresponds to the volume of praise that our leaders have for Islam.  Thus far, we infidels have shown remarkable patience by not responding in kind to the persistent and deliberate murder of civilians by Islamists, yet, we are still informed by our leaders that we are the ones who need to change.

Enter Chris Carter, Minister of Ethnic Affairs for the country of New Zealand, where the people are fat and happy (sans the dozen families that have had to deal with the loss of loved ones to Islamic terror since 9/11).  Carter is a one-man proselytizer for Islam and is actually encouraging his countrymen to attend mosques and “learn” about the Religion of Peace (since it's done so much to earn our respect).

Depending on which interpretation of Islam is presented at the time, it is likely that conversions will occur.  And, while recent converts to Islam do enjoy an added measure of personal protection from terror, it is usually at their neighbors’ expense, since they also tend to be more susceptible to radicalism.

An increased threat of domestic terror is just the beginning of the slippery slope that Chris Carter is starting his nation down.  Given the liberal social attitudes of New Zealanders, he might consider taking a good, hard look at the Muslim world to determine which aspects of it he wants his own society to resemble in the next century or so.

Our guess is that he won’t find much.

{Editor's footnote: After posting this, a reader from NZ informed us that Mr. Carter is openly gay, which makes his love affair with Islam that much more bizarre - given the religion's rigidly enforced zero tolerance policy for homosexuals.)

July 2006 Dhimwit: Jan Marijnissen

Der Fuehrer Marijnissen?

This month Dutch Socialist Party leader, Jan Marijnissen, gets the nod for comparing Islamic terror to the resistance against Nazi occupation during World War II.  Marijnissen makes this stunningly amoral comment based on a single criterion – that Islamists and World War II insurgents both used terror tactics as a means to an end.

Frankly, this is like saying that an elephant and a tube of toothpaste have a lot in common because neither speaks French.

Never mind that the European resistance was fighting the sort of totalitarianism that the Islamic terrorists are literally killing themselves to bring about.  Never mind that the European resistance was fighting for the very freedom and democracy that Islamic terrorists are waging holy war against.  Never mind that the European resistance generally avoided shedding innocent blood while Islamic terrorists deliberately rack up civilian casualties.  Never mind that the European resistance was battling a supremacist ideology, while Islamic terrorists are fighting on behalf of one.

It all boils down to a single technical factor for Jan Marijnissen: both groups used terror tactics.  (For the record, so did the Nazis after they lost the war).

Hey, we’ve thought of a few other facts for you to base an analogy on, Jan.  The Nazis were anti-American, European Socialists who hated America and sympathized heavily with the killers of Jews.  Can you think of anyone else fitting this description?  (Because we can).

June 2006 Dhimwit: Michael Berg

Don't mess with an American's kid (unless it's this guy's).

Normally we wait until the end of the month before anointing our honoree, but let's get real.  No one's going to be catching Michael Berg.  When you lament the death of the terrorist who personally beheaded your own son, then you've got some serious reality issues.

Like Cindy Sheehan, Michael Berg is an evolutionary dead-end who somehow managed to raise a real man against very steep odds.  Nick Berg was quite a decent person, and most of the world cheered the end of his unrepentant killer.  But if his own father had his way, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi would be alive and racking up more heads

January 2006 Dhimwit: Paul Martin

We aren't ashamed to admit that we love Canada! For fifteen years our editor has had the Maple Leaf hung from his office (right-side up, of course).  He stayed up late one dark election night ten years ago just to sleep a little easier when the Quebecois failed in their bid to destroy the country (and winced when Parizeau blamed the defeat on "the ethnic vote").  We believe that it's only proper to worship the Stanley Cup, and each spring we cross our fingers in the vain hope that the Senators won't break our hearts again.

In our experience, the Canadians are quite possibly the best people on earth, particularly those living outside of Montreal.  The cities are wonderful and can be experienced on foot in a way that very few other countries afford.  The Canadian Rockies seem more majestic than they are south of the border, and the Maritime Provinces have fishing villages with a quaint, New England charm that is much harder to find on the American side these days.

Canadians can be excused for thinking that theirs is the best country on the planet.  Indeed, while America takes extraordinary measures to keep the rest of the world from overwhelming her shores, there is little such activity on the longest undefended border in the world.  Even as would-be immigrants often pay with their lives for a chance at the economic and social freedoms of the United States, Canadians openly fear American influence for the effect that it might have on their quality of life - one of the only countries in the world to truly do so.  (We suspect that American TV shows have a lot to do with this).

For decades Canada has been following Europe's march toward economic progressivism, albeit at a distance.  Its business model is still closer to the United States for the time being, despite government programs such as socialized health care and the higher tax rates that are required to support it.  The sales tax in some provinces approaches 20% and the income tax rates often discourage the added risk and effort required for wealth accumulation (and business development). Canadians are more likely to be working in America than Americans in Canada.

The country's "Employment Insurance" system was once called 10/42, because a slacker only had to work ten weeks out of the year to qualify for government benefits the other 42 weeks.  The labor laws also favor unions against employers, even allowing the former unchallenged influence among workers.

Canada has been following Europe's drift to the Left in other areas as well.  The nation's leaders seem to have swallowed the egalitarian line that social dysfunction is a product of class and economic differences.  Undaunted by soaring crime rates even as the basic needs of citizens are being satisfied, the theorists now explain that crime is really a matter of "relative deprivation" - meaning that people steal (or cause bodily harm) not because they need to, but rather because they are compelled to by the fact that they have less than the people around them.  The solution, of course, is wealth redistribution (what some might call looting from the producers).

Yet, the harder Canada works to enforce economic parity and social equality, the more crime it seems to suffer.  The country's overall crime rate is actually 50% higher than America's - and the two countries have been trending in completely opposite directions for fifteen years.

Not surprisingly, Canadians find ways of blaming America for their problems, just as the U.S. has to be the scapegoat for all of the world's ills, according to the sanctimonious.

The Iraq War was unpopular in Canada, where many naively assume that dialogue and referendum are all that's needed to resolve any issue.  Their own country wasn't spawned out of bloody struggle or revolution, and neither have the people suffered under dictatorship or faced a totalitarian threat.  The harsh reality that others in the world need the sort of help that can't always be perfectly provided fails to penetrate the consciousness of a land where life is so easy.

Canada refused to intervene in Rwanda in 1994 when it was obvious that hundreds of thousands of innocents were being brutally hacked to death even as one of their own, Lt. General Romeo Dallaire begged for a force of 5,000 men to stop the massacre.  Better that a million Africans die, than Canadians be responsible for the loss of just one innocent life through the missteps of war, eh?  After all, there are no such hard choices in their nation, so how can there be any in the rest of the world?

Anti-Americanism and cultural bigotry were exploited in heavy-handed fashion by the Liberal Party in the recent January elections, particularly in television ads that attempted to smear opponents through association with the United States.

Thanks in large part to recent government corruption scandals and their own promises to maintain the status quo, the Conservatives won a plurality of seats in the election, ousting the Liberal Party leader, Paul Martin, who is the recipient of our January Dhimwit of the Month honor.  Although Martin's own political career may be in doubt, it's certain that his party will regain power in the years to come.  Democracy lends itself to liberalism, since the path of least resistance will always appeal to the greatest share of voters.

In December, a
Muslim member of Paul Martin's Liberal Party won the nomination for the general election and declared (in a Christian church, no less) that "This is a victory for Islam! Islam won! Islam Won!... Islamic power is extending into Canadian politics."  Not surprisingly, the candidate supports Shari'a in Canada, and wants to abolish the anti-terror laws that keep suicide bombers out of the country.  (He now sits in parliament after handily beating his opponent).

Yet, Paul Martin was conspicuously silent.

Even worse, in January the Prime Minister issued an incredible statement to Eid ul-Adha celebrants in which he bluntly stated that "Muslim values are Canadian values."  He went on to detail such standards as multiculturalism, freedom, tolerance, and the "equality of every person."

Although values are a matter of personal interpretation, most Canadians would agree with these general principles.  Islamic values, however, are explicitly revealed in the Qur'an and Hadiths, which form the Sunnah (Muslim way of life based on the deeds of Muhammad).  If history is any guide, there can't possibly be anything less "Canadian" than the way Muslims have practiced Islam through the centuries.

Take the most obvious contradiction.  Canada is a secular nation.  At one point it was even against the law to broadcast religious messages on the airwaves.  By contrast, Islam is meant to be both a religion and a government.  Muhammad left no legacy of distinction between the two.  Most of those living in Muslim countries believe that it's heresy for a Muslim to have any sort of allegiance to a non-Islamic government.

Freedom and tolerance are also defined quite differently in Islam.  A Muslim is not free to leave the religion, for example, since apostasy is punishable by death.  If a person is prevented by penalty of death from choosing their most important personal beliefs, it's certainly a farce to suggest that freedom is a part of the religion.

According to Islamic law, religious tolerance is conditional upon non-Muslims accepting a position of subjugation.  If they don't submit to third-class status and pay the Jizya (tax), then war is to be waged against them until they are killed, converted or forced into dhimmitude.  This is what drove Islam to the military conquest of lands in the Middle East, Africa and Europe that were originally Jewish and Christian.

And, although Canadian law is certainly predicated on the rule that all persons are equal before it, there is absolutely nothing in Islam that isn't based on strict hierarchy of gender and religion.  Women and non-believers are to be accorded very different treatment from Muslim men under the law, according to Muhammad - and there has never been any Muslim country that failed to put this into practice.

In fact, when Canada recently flirted with allowing resident Muslims to practice Sharia for certain family matters, some of the strongest opposition came from Muslim women, who preferred their newfound civil rights to reduced status under Islamic law.

It's difficult to tell whether Paul Martin is truly ignorant of Islam and Islamic history, or if he is speaking strategically, hoping that optimistic words and positive thinking might accomplish the sort of reform that has eluded Islam for fourteen centuries.  It would be a real shame if Canadians actually believed him, since it would probably be too late to salvage their beloved country by the time they discovered the truth.
